A creation of Italian puppeteer Maria Perego, Topo Gigio entertained TV audiences in Spain and Italy in the 1960s before he found fame and fortune as the singing and chatting happy mouse on The Ed Sullivan show in America. At 10-inches tall, little Topo made a big impression on his 50 appearances on the popular Sunday-night variety show. Topo, in fact, closed the final airing of the show in 1971. The little mouse also starred in feature-length films, cartoons, and children's magazines and he appeared on a variety of toys and other products.
