This work is set in Perros-Guirec, in the small house that Maurice Denis rented above the port in the summer of 1897. In the foreground, his wife Marthe holds their daughter Noelle, while a woman to their left prepares the baby’s bath. The inclusion of the Breton landscape and the use of Synthetism and structure to portray this intimate family scene are characteristic of Maurice Denis’ work.
