This anthropomorphous figurine was part of a scepter. The individual is standing on a small stool or pedestal with Mayan glyphs in the front and back sides. The headdress is made of curved feathers and a front sheet with a round hole that was most probably used to hold an inlay. It has a chest piece covering the shoulders and chest with a central piece in the shape of an animal. At the front, stands out for its size a cloth at the hips with incised designs that indicate it was made out of jaguar skin. The piece presents remains of a red pigment (most probably cinnabar). It has a round hole in the back and in the base. The figurine shows an Ajaw, a title given to rulers who had all the civil power in the ancient Mayan society. The meticulous details are remarkable in the attire and in the physical characteristics. It is worth to mention that although the origin of this piece is unknown, the Archaeologist Roman Piña Chan included it in one of his most recent publication as from Jaina.Dra. Federica Sodi MirandaColaboradores: Arqlgo. Hugo Herrera Torres Araceli Ruiz Peláez Mtro. Hugo García Capistran.
