Fire on the Flight Deck

A photographer’s mate on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid captured a series of images showing an accident on the flight deck. An auxiliary fuel tank falls from the belly of an AD Skyraider and bursts into flames. Crew members raced to extract the pilot, who survived.
