One beautiful and still very well preserved ensemble of miner colonies in the Saar district is the settlement in the modern town centre of Fischbach. These semi-detached houses built for miners between 1890 and 1910 are single-storey brick-built buildings on the edge of the Saar Kohlewald in the direct vicinity of the pit.
