  • Title: Fish hook sample board for O Mustad and Sons
  • Provenance: This fish hook sample board was issued by O Mustad and Sons. Their fish hooks were imported into Australia from the 1940s and were particularly popular with game fishers. O Mustad and Sons had its origins in a small company manufacturing metal hardware in Vardal, Norway in 1832. In 1877 the descendants of the founder refined and industrialized the manufacture of fish hooks, soon becoming a global market leader. Mustad employee Mathias Topp invented the first automatic fish hook machine with steel wire fed in one end and hooks emerging from the other.
