Fish Trap

A kind of "Modhno" plant is found abundantly in the lowland region and provides material used for making fish traps. Woven by men who go on fishing expeditions, it is wider at its mouth and narrow at its bottom. It is described as a trap that never goes without catching fish. When fishing about three to four strings are tied to a long stick, then the trap is suspended into the water where it is immersed with fish food. As the fish rush into the trap to grab the food, the trap is suddenly pulled out and water escapes through the tiny holes on the trap leaving the fish trapped in. The fish are taken home and put in containers.
