The term “Costeño” is used to describe a person from a coastal region of Colombia; this community's economy is centered around fishing, which adapted the way the inhabitants of this region dress.

Like many other articles of traditional clothing in Colombia, the working attire for fishermen of coastal regions of Colombia has a clear Spaniard origin with a long sleeve shirt with high neckline to prevent sunburns, usually made with cotton, these shirts come in pair with some cotton pants that are tied around the waist.

Sometimes kerchiefs, Sombrero Vueltiao, handbags and even machetes are part of the traditional look of costeño fishermen.
