The Chinese characters feite is the transliteration of the English word “fit,” meaning a proper relationship between objects. Before start, the artist has set up a rule for his creation, that to connect any objects if their sizes match, and not to use screws or glue for connecting, keeping the objects independent and free for being dismantled at any time.

The installation explores the internal structural connections between things, as well as the creation of new structures, based on the understanding of inner connections, to expand the everyday experiences. Generally, everyday objects are made to satisfy specific functions. On the one hand, these functions set up the dimension and limitation of the objects and therefore, determine the connections between objects. On the other hand, the exclusive dependence on functions also limits one’s perspective on an object, and constructs a conventional understanding of the object that ignores its potentials. The artist intends to break the limitations imposed by such conventional understandings, and therefore, he creates a new way to view the objects and their relationships to each other by following a new principle of physics to create things. The whole process is similar to a simulation experiments in science, which prevents possible repetitions due to habits of aesthetics.
In FIT, the connection and expansion of things follow their inner structure, and their entrances to the structure are somehow arbitrary and unpredictable. The spontaneous new structure has an abstract and unfamiliar look, but does not change the way of seeing fundamentally. The artist maintains a realistic dimension of the work, and the new structural connections established in his work can be viewed as a visual metaphor for a search for the new social relationships between people.
