This bull with its four short legs clearly served as a hanging oil lamp. The hollow flask is made of cream-coloured pottery, finished with a layer of red slip. The large mouth of this flask is on the bull’s back. Adorning the creature’s flanks are four bulges with scorched spouts and suspension holes. They are connected by transverse ridges that represent ropes. In terms of form and technique, the flask is in the tradition of Ancient Hittite relief pottery, in which animals were popular themes. Few objects of this kind are known.
