Both this jumper and dress have displaced armholes which are tilted to the front. The Spring/Summer 1998 collection of Maison Martin Margiela comprised a series of ‘flat’ garments. The collection had two sub-themes, one of which was called ‘flat garments’, or garments whose structure had been adapted so that, when not worn, they were totally flat. The following season, Autumn/Winter 1998, the principal group of the collection was made up of five series of ‘flat’ garments with displaced shoulders or necklines. The sleeves or neck opening lied at the front.
