Flint work such as this wall are often found in Normandy. An architectural link to Southern England’s history as a former Norman Kingdom and Queen Emma of Normandy (c.985 - 1052), who requested this church be rebuilt after the previous site had been destroyed during a war between Danish princes and the king of England, Aethelred the Unready (966 –1016).
