Manufactured for only two years, the Monark Flo-cycle had many competitors: Elgin, Mercury, Shelby and many more were creating iconic bicycles to help keep sales strong during the Great Depression. Marketed as the finest bicycle in the world, the Flo-cycle’s combination of new and stylish features make it the ultimate American balloon-tired bicycle of its era. This rare model was purchased in Virginia and is badged as a “Hawthorne” indicating that it was produced for the Montgomery Ward store franchise.
