Thiago's work was inspired by the book "Flora brasiliensis," which remains one of the largest and most comprehensive documentations of plants in history to this day, more than 100 years after its publication. In 1817, Emperor Francis I of Austria dispatched a scientific commission to Brazil as part of the dowry for his daughter, Archduchess Leopoldina, who was an avid supporter of research and a key figure in Brazil's independence, which will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2022.

Based on this, Thiago researched Brazilian flora plants that gained worldwide fame, particularly after the modern gardens designed by Burle Marx. He tried to follow the festival's color palette and avoid using excessive colors so that his painting would harmonize with Vienna's tones. The result is a vibrant and captivating representation of the Brazilian flora that pays homage to its rich history and cultural significance.
