St. Louis artist Basil Kincaid honors traditional craftsmanship through a diverse range of media, including quilting, collaging, photography, installation, and performance. Inspired by eight generations of family quilters, Basil creates dynamic contemporary installations that celebrate these ancestral skills while infusing them with his unique artistic vision. Each 200-square-foot quilt is hand-stitched in Basil’s studio in Ghana using recycled fabrics, embroidery, and collage, reflecting themes of family, imagination, and the shared experience of the American Dream.
