Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum
Kaohsiung, Taiwan

The Buddha Museum, located in the Dashu district of the Taiwan's Kaohsiung city and covering an area of 50 hectares, is officially opened in December 2011. Venerable Master Hsing Yun constructed the museum after he received the Buddha’s tooth relic, a precious religious heritage. The Museum has become a unique and comprehensive museum that promotes “human-centered” life-long learning.
The objectives of the Buddha Museum are “to present Buddhism through arts and culture, motion pictures and movie, humanistic dimensions, and international dynamics.” The Buddha Museum attracts 10 million tourists each year and is an all-in-one center that caters to art collection, research, education, exploration, and provides well-established recreation and touristic services to the public. The Museum received the Best Tourist Spot in Kaohsiung Award, Travelers’ Choice Award on TripAdvisor, became a member of ICOM, and received accreditation for the ISO50001 certification in 2014. In 2016 and 2017, it was awarded two more Travelers’ Choice Awards on TripAdvisor.
