Following Fei Qinghu’s landscape painting

Painted in March when Kaioku was 72 years of age. One of his earliest works with the name Suoh. The inscription says this painting is a reproduction of a Fei Qinghu’s picture, which Kaioku, who likes to see or make poems and pictures about fishermen, came across by chance. It also says the poem is an old work. Fei Qinghu was a Qing poet who often came to Japan in the late 18th century.
Pictures and calligraphies by Kaioku are created not only on paper or plain silk but many are on silk satin. This work also uses silk satin, on which the blank is expressed as the softly shining surface of water.
