Ford Crager Racing Special

Sprint cars built with Model T and Model A Ford components were raced at fairgrounds, exhibition tracks and dirt ovals during the late 1920s and throughout the 1930s. These second-, third-, even fourth-hand cars became both the classroom and the playground for a generation of tinkerers. Popular fan magazines were devoted to the single subject of improving the performance of Ford cars, and it has been said that Fords contributed more than any other single source to the popularization of motorsports in the United States. This was fitting, as at the very beginning of the 20th century, Henry Ford had used racing to demonstrate his technological advances and relatively affordable vehicles in the new world of automobile manufacturing. Ford himself raced only once, in 1901, but with a resounding success that Ford cars would repeat again and again in the hands of professional drivers.

This racer has a Model T chassis, Model A drive line and a Model B engine block with a Cragar head and pressure lubrication.
