Ford's Hospital is also known as Greyfriar's Hospital. It was built in the early 16th century following an endowment by the will of William Ford, and an additional endowment in 1517 by William Pisford. The timber frame almshouse was badly damaged by bombing in November 1940 but was rebuilt using original timbers in 1951-3.
