Ford's Theatre
Washington, D.C., United States

People immediately recognized the Lincoln assassination as a historic event and scrambled to obtain a piece of memorabilia from the theatre. Although the original Box decorations were missing, Mathew Brady photographed the theatre extensively, making it among the best-documented theatres from this time period and allowing its accurate recreation in the 1960s.
