The National Park Service renovated the museum again beginning in 1988, as it had become clear that visitors wanted to learn about the assassination. Reopened in 1990, new exhibits included the coat Lincoln wore to the theatre, the door to the Presidential Box, Booth’s pistol, and memorabilia belonging to Booth’s co-conspirators.
