Forearm Isis temple statue

Luis Castilla1st century AD

In front we see the possible arm of the statue of the goddess Isis, discovered in the back of the temple and close to the cella (where the statue of the deity was kept) during excavations carried out in 1986 by the French Institution of Hispanic studies Casa de Velázquez in the temple of the same name. There is no conclusive evidence to indicate that this is exactly the statue of Isis, because only the forearm is preserved. However, this hypothesis should not be ruled out. It seems that the fingers and palm of the hand close in a position to hold something, for example a sistrum, like the statue kept at the Capitoline Museums in Rome.
