The picture by Jan Pręgowski, painted in the oil on canvas technique, in a vertical compositional layout, embodies undefined, partly subjected to geometric simplification, forms in a rhythmic, upright organization. The background for the longitudinal, narrowing bars or poles is shown fragmentarily, as if taken out of the relevant context landscape of the harmoniously tuned, full of nuances, colour scheme with chromatic and tonal differentiation, which is dominated by greens and ochres. The landscape incompleteness reveals another, located behind it, light-coloured layer, almost white at the top of the presentation, and at the bottom taking a grey-blue shade. This layer generates the image depth, acting as a natural space for the foreground motifs.
The characteristic tendency for this picture, but also for the entire oeuvre of Jan Pręgowski (both painting and drawing), to arrange the space sometimes takes on the nature of scenography. This is the case in the Forecast picture; the imaginary forms seem to be a kind of decoration, a screen with an illusionary landscape. This creates the unique distortions of space, and causes the ambiguous relationships between depth and flatness, perspective and scale of the objects. [F. Pręgowski]
