Initially, Robert Sliwinski studied lithography, but later devoted himself to painting, which he studied in Wrocław and Frankfurt am Main. He was a famous teacher in the former Gymnasium of St. Maciej taught drawing, and in later years Sliwinski opened his own painting school for women. He mainly painted landscapes, presented views from Lower Silesia and other regions of Germany. He was friends with Adolf Dressler, who influenced his works greatly. This painting reflects the style of the artist's paintings well - he created realistic works in a romantic mood, complemented by staffage.
