Printed below the image: “J.Valentine Dundee”. Various inscribed on the reverse including a Royal badge “UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF THE QUEEN” and a facsimile signature of the photographer: “Photographed by Jas. Valentine DUNDEE.” Sir David Brewster was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1815, he was a leading figure in Victorian science helping to found the British Association for the Advancement of Science. He is best remembered for his contributions in the field of optics.
