Michael Rice has always been interested in texture and form and began looking at creating something new during the lockdown. By using various processes layered together, he developed a way of working that is completely new to him and has proved to be an interesting additional direction. Turquoise with a white crawl glaze, fired to 1240 C, this piece speaks to the miniscule nature of the pathogen we face yet its structure holds a certain beauty and intensity that is intriguing and foreboding.
