Fortress Model

Models of fortresses were used when teaching young Gentlemen to become officers. Sieges were a common part of a war and the knowledge of how best to defend or to attack a fortress was crucial. This model does not depict an existing fortress but is a generic one, designed with five bastions, a hornwork redoubt (to the right) and five ravelins.
