Carvalho & Lourenço, 2001. Fossilized scorpion in laminated limestone from the Chapada do Araripe, Ceará. This specimen is exceptional for its rarity and excellent state of preservation. The Chapada do Araripe is one of the world's leading reserves of terrestrial arthropod fossils. In addition to scorpions, there are fossilized remains of spiders and insects that lived during the Cretaceous around 110 million years ago.
