In 1998 the company presented a large collection of marbles and travertines produced in-house. The new materials immediately amazed the public with their beauty and rich colours. This unique nature was captured in the name FMG - Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, which perfectly identified the new materials, with great communicative power.
FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti makes materials designed to release the creativity of architects, designers and planners, offering a wide range of factory-made natural stones, suitable for the greatest variety of uses, ranging from large projects to small residential spaces.
This was Romano Minozzi’s mission in 1998 and this is why it remains a crucial brand for the Group.
The aim and strategy of the founder were clear right from the start: to produce marble, granite and stone, with total respect for the environment, in which the authentic beauty of the materials was combined with higher quality, in the company’s own factories.
To achieve this aim, a completely new type of plant was designed and built.
FMG - Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti, which perfectly identified the material, with great communicative power. The logo was created by Salvatore Gregorietti, a famous designer behind many iconic brands.
Market success was immediate, thanks to the strength of the materials and the clarity of the message, which instilled a change of mentality and of language: materials were no longer ‘porcelain’ and ‘tiles’ but ‘manufactured stone’ and ‘slabs’.
The exclusive technical know-how developed by the Group companies resulted in the design and creation of a large factory that could produce in a few hours what nature created over the course of geological eras, using minerals extracted in an environmentally-friendly way with a production cycle similar to a natural one, made of pressure and heat. It created materials with natural, variable veining that ran through the surface of the slab: in short, manufactured stone.
The new factory was created to manage an extremely high number of mixtures in different colours, and combined them with extreme precision, in order to realistically recreate the details of every type of marble or travertine, not only on the surface, but right through the slabs. An important number of machines and technologies were developed in-house. No one up to that moment and for a long time was able to produce similar materials.
