Four-Panel Screen

Walnut or rosewood room screen (late 19th C.) with four folding panels. Carved borders of acanthus leaves, corner blocks with stylized leafy medallions. Large medallion with lion rampant in shield with 'C' scrolls at all four corners. Four inset woven wool tapestry panels (17th C.): Woman and cupid with bow; seated woman with spear; seated man with lyre; standing woman with feather or frond. Backs of tapestry panels covered in red velvet; bottom backs of screen plain and undecorated.
