Gina Rorai (b. 1966)

Gina Rorai is a contemporary painter. A graduate of York University with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Rorai is known for her “painterly intelligence”, combining aspects of still life, abstraction, and landscape painting into highly structured works that speak to the cycles of life. Writing for Canadian Art, E.C. Woodley reviewed Rorai’s work, stating that, “Standing before one of her paintings makes you a subject before a window, its curtain drawn open, beyond which you find the inevitability of time passing. You, before a painting, in the midst of the passing show.” Gina Rorai exhibits in Toronto, where she is represented commercially. She has also been included in various group exhibitions that have been shown in Canada and the United States.
