Fragmentary border section

Although this border panel was attached to a representation of the Dream of Joseph that was installed in a chapel of the Clermont-Ferrand Cathedral until the early thirteenth century, the Infancy of Christ window from which it came pre-dates the architecture of the current church. This window may have been created for an earlier cathedral church or another church and reused later to fill gaps in the glazing of the Gothic church. The brilliant colors in this panel are characteristic of its date and location, and it still preserves much of its original medieval leading.
