Handkerchief mounted in a wooden frame, depicting participants in the Tour de France of 1931. Imprinted on the handkerchief are images and last names of twenty-four cyclists, including Hubert Opperman and Frank Thomas. The images are arranged over the outline of a map of France. Inscription on reverse, "TOUR DE FRANCE / 1931 / HANDKERCHIEFS SUCH AS THIS ONE WERE ON SALE PRIOR TO THE EVENT / BUT THERE IS A / MISTAKE / FRANK THOMAS / AS "OSSIE" MICHOLSON / NAME - NICHOLSON VICE-VERSE / ESCUSABLE PERHAPS / AS THEY WERE NOT WELL KNOWN IN EUROPE / THEIR FIRST VISIT, / AND THEY ARE AMONGST / A VARIETY OF NEW / ENTRANTS FROM OTHER / COUNTRIES".
