Frank Duncan was considered to be one of the greatest catchers of baseball. He spent most of his playing career with the Kansas City Monarchs during their glory years in the 1920s. The Monarchs won three consecutive league championships and beat the Hilldale Club of Philadelphia in the first Negro World Series. Duncan became the playing manager for the Monarchs during most of the 1940s. Thought to be the first father/son duo in baseball, Duncan play with his son, pitcher Frank Duncan III in 1941. Duncan was married to jazz legend, Julia Lee.
