Manchester's Free Trade Hall was built in 1853-6 by Edward Walters for the Anti-Corn Law League. The building was largely reconstructed in 1950-1 following war damage. From 1858 it was home to the Halle Orchestra in 1858 and served as a concert hall and public assembly hall.
