Nasij is a kind of gold-wefted brocade which applies flat or round gold threads as weft threads. Originated in the Warring States Period (475-221 BC), the practice of adding gold threads to silk weave witnessed development in the Han dynasty (202 BC-220 AD), reached maturity in the Tang and Song dynasties (618-1279 AD) and enjoyed supreme popularity in the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368 AD).
