Count Magnus Brahe (1790-1844), owner of Skokloster, stayed but short periods at the estate. Some sources say that he most likely only visited the castle during Ascension weekend each year. In spite of this he spent enormous sums on renovating the castle and filling it with treasures. Many objects were also gifts from his close friend King Charles XIV John, partly as tokens of friendship and partly as a way of helping out with acquiring fitting historical pieces.
