Children in Froebel’s Kindergarten classrooms used the Gifts to build what he called forms of life, knowledge, and beauty. With Gift No. 5, a 3-inch cube divided into 21 cubes, six half-triangles, and twelve quarter-triangles, children could build representations of life with related stories; learn about angles, triangles, and size differences; and form complex patterns by modifying constructions rather than destroying and rebuilding them.
