In this work for the Biennale, Upendranath has used images of his own body as a metaphor. His work tries to make sense of “seeing things from the roots” while also presenting a larger contemporary world view. Upendranath uses various texts that reflect on the current socio-political order as his work oscillates between the old and the new while never leaving the present. This series consists of 55 photographic and text-based artworks printed on international art-magazine papers found as scrap.
