Manuals compile knowledge on design and construction that architects contribute to self-building processes. “From Our Hands” is a video installation and a collection of tools manufactured by construction workers. It is a counter-manual of sorts: it meditates on what construction workers contribute to architecture. Their knowledge often eludes systematization; it depends on bodily techniques learned through imitation in trial and error processes.
