From the Masses to the Masses

Qi Baishi was known for his semi-cursive script (running script) and seal script (small script) in Chinese calligraphy. He developed a mature and uninhibited style for his semi-cursive script, exhibiting a powerful, bold, yet classically simple dynamism. In his later years, he became more and more assured and confident in wielding his brush, composing his calligraphy in a loose unrestrained fashion.
