About the series: Dhanushkodi is a long sliver of land that extends from the southeast corner of Rameshwaram Island in Tamil Nadu. Besides its history and beauty, this ancient land holds for the photographer, a type of resonance that is deep and hard to explain. The certain quality of stillness and austere grace it possesses is compelling.
About the Photographer: Rajiv Kumar, b.1975, India, is a freelance documentary photographer currently based in New Delhi. His work consists of personal projects as well as commissioned works for various advertisement agencies. He participated in the "Click: Contemporary Photography from India" group show held simultaneously at London’s Grosvenor Vadehra Gallery and at the Vadehra Gallery in New Delhi, between February and March, 2008.
