National Museums of Kenya

National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

This is a woven bead and fibre front apron predominantly of red and white background with lovely geometric designs. It is made by grown up girls and married women from fibre. These are fringed with beads or chain, the latter is made by an old chainsmith. It is worn by girls to look beautiful at the traditional dancers and attract the attention of young men.
