This is image of the front facade of the main building of Presidency University (erstwhile Presidency College). The main building was inaugurated by Lord Northbrook, the then Viceroy of India, on 31 March 1874. It was constructed in the neo-classical style. On being requested by James Suttcliffe, the then Principal, Bipradas Palchaudhuri gifted the turret clock. Bipradas was a student of F. A. class and brother of Nafarchandra Palchaudhuri, who was a zamindar of Natudah in Nadia, Bengal. The clock was brought from England. It started working from 11 September 1875.
