The name “fuddling” in this cup carries with it double-meaning—to both confuse and intoxicate. The drinker was challenged to empty the three compartments simultaneously without spilling any liquid. With careful placement of the fingers, holes in the chambers allow the liquid to flow into the chamber from which one is drinking.
