Flight into Egypt

Attributed to Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes (b. 1695 - d. 1778). This Flight into Egypt, dated circa 1730, shows us one of the more marked characteristics of Policarpo’s de Oliveira Bernardes (b. 1695 - d. 1778) final phase, to whom is attributed the use of a dense blue. This colour gives this author’s compositions a dark ambience that very effectively serves the theme represented.
