Funeral mask

Typical Egyptian production. It fit over the mummy’s head, reproducing the dead woman’s facial features. It is made of layers of linen, pressed and hardened with glue, then covered with plaster, gilded and painted. The abundant use of gold is a sign of the dead woman’s high rank.
