Furisode(Garment with Long Sleeves), Thistle and chrysanthemums design on light orange plain silk

On this garment, simplified patterns of thistles and chrysanthemums are dyed in black, indigo and other such plain colors over the designs left by paste resist on the light blue sandbank motifs. Crests symbolizing wood sorrel are embroidered in flat stitches with light green silk thread, two each on the front and sleeves and one on the back. This is a typical example of furisode garments worn by young townswomen in the mid-Edo period.

- Object Notes(Japanese): 浅葱（あさぎ）色に染めた州浜（すはま）形の内に、簡略化された線と形で薊と菊を糊置きし、墨色や藍色といった地味な色彩で染めた、いわゆる光琳（こうりん）模様。五つ所紋には、かたばみ紋を萌黄（もえぎ）色の絹糸で平繍（ひらぬい）する。町方の若い女性が江戸時代中期に着用した振袖の典型的な一例である。
