Breviarium Cisterciense

Staatsbibliothek Bamberg

Staatsbibliothek Bamberg
Bamberg, Germany

The coat of arms in white, red and black belonged to Margaretha von Zedwith, the last abbess of Sonnefeld. Beneath it, however, traces of a different coat of arms can be detected: Scarce traces of a wolf with a goose on yellow ground. This one belonged to abbess Margaretha von Brandenstein, who lead the cloister to its last bloom. It was probably her who commissioned the manuscript.
