Fyndon's Gate is also known as the Fyndon Gate or the Great Gateway. It was built between 1283 and 1309 and comprises an arched gateway with a chamber above. This photograph, taken for the Ministry of Works, shows the devastation wrought on the area by bombing raids in spring 1942.
